Rachel King – THAI MASSAGE

Rachel started her professional Thai massage practice in 2004. Over time, tuning into her own natural rhythm she has developed a slow, fluid and steady style. Her treatments act like a physical form of meditation for both giver and receiver; an opportunity to slow down, helping to ground an over-active mind common in our busy lives.

The beauty of Thai massage is that it brings clients back into their body and away from unhelpful, repetitive thought patterns. The treatment encourages a flow of energy through the body. The therapist uses pressure from hands, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet in combination with gentle rocking, deep stretches and stillness.

Rachel works with a variety of clients including pregnant women (pre and post-natal), people with general stiffness and those dealing with energetic and emotional issues, including anxiety and depression.

Miles Joseph – THAI YOGA MASSAGE

I started my exploration of Thai massage in 2012 have taken numerous trainings with leading teachers including Krishnatakis, David Lutt, Kira Balaskas, Pau Castellsague and Flora Bisogno. I continue to be inspired by this practice and the well-being benefits I see it brings.

In addition, I have also taken a number of yoga teacher trainings, the last called Daoist Flow, which incorporates vinyasa yoga, somatic movement and qi gong. I believe Thai massage and these practices have great synergies.

In my massage treatments, I seek to apply these practices, incorporating rhythm and stillness and fluid natural movement patterns to enable the free flow of energy. Through mindful touch and gentle assists, my aim is to create movement where there is stagnation, yield where there is tension, and nourish and relax body and mind. www.asana.space

Stuart Thomas – TUI NA

Stuart Thomas  Stuart has been inspired by and explored how Martial Arts and Dance integrate for over 20 years. He is a teacher of Contemporary Dance as well as second generation Soul Jazz and his teaching follows the road of ‘old school’ to progressive styles, creating his own unique style of Martial Dance Fusion.

He was intuitively drawn into Dance upon discovering that its focus on strength and grace in movement helped him decipher the anatomical machinations of the body. As a result, in his twenties he embarked upon a journey to train in Tai Chi, which culminated in his earning a rank of Group A Instructor from the Canton Martial Committee.

In 2003 he began exploring Body-Mind-Healing including Tuina Therapeutic Massage and Thai Yoga Massage. Martial Arts and Dance are the culmination and evolution of Stuart’s extensive training in his practice and teachings. Stuart is now also a highly sought after instructor of Dance and Tai Chi fist – two of the most practiced Martial Arts and Dance forms.

“I travel to China every year to study tui na massage. I stay in Hangzhou. My favourite thing is waking up at dawn and heading to the park where all the older people do tai chi. There’s a feeling everybody’s healing themselves; it’s amazing. Afterwards, I’ll go to a cafe and buy this omelette-type delicacy filled with sweet syrup. Oh man, it’s good.”

Massage Shala

Meet our therapists at the monthly “Massage Shala” where you can receive a first class treatment at an affordable rate. Shala is a sanskrit word meaning “home, abode”, therefore the Massage Shala is a home for  our therapists, practicing in a shared space.  We gather together to practice, share, experience and grow – a community of healers working together in conscious harmony.  Receiving treatments in a communal area is the norm in South East Asia, where massage is an everyday practice to maintain health and wellbeing.

Low cost Multi-bed Acupuncture Community Clinic

Every Monday 3-7pm and Friday 1-5pm Marco Borghini, a London based qualified acupuncturist, runs a Low cost Multi-bed Acupuncture Community Clinic at Centre 151.

What is a Low cost Multi-bed Acupuncture Community Clinic?
In China many people are treated in the same hospital ward or treatment room. By doing so Acupuncture treatments are more affordable and giving the chance to have more regular sessions in order to reach over time more effectiveness and long lasting results with the same level of care of a private one to one treatment. In the multi-bed clinic, several people are treated together in one room, offering affordable acupuncture treatments and giving access to quality care for the community. By treating more than one patient each hour, the practitioner can significantly reduce the price of each treatment. The patient and so the treatment is enhanced through the nurturing, group healing environment, and by the sense of community inclusiveness.
