How much of ourselves do we silence to fit in?
“Silence is golden.”
“Listen to your elders.”
“You’ll understand when you’re older.”
We have all heard words like these. But how do they shape the way we think, behave and relate to others?
PRICE OF SILENCE is a contemporary dance duet exploring silence, obedience, power and resistance, drawing inspiration from the lived experiences and cultural backgrounds of Hong Kong and Taiwan. Through intense physical movement, repetition and shifting power dynamics, two performers navigate the boundaries between compliance and resistance, vulnerability and control. The work questions the invisible rules we inherit, the habits we develop, and the things we learn not to say. Following the performance, audiences are invited to join a post-show discussion and share their thoughts and reflections with the artists.
